The MSLA Annual Conference is regarded as excellent value for money and the 2015 event was highly successful with over 120 delegates (mostly MSLs, Managers & Medical Directors) from across the industry attending. We received 70 completed feedback forms 2015 Conference delegates and below are some verbatim responses to the question, ‘What impact will the 2015 MSLA Annual Conference have on your future delivery of the MSL/MSL lead role?’:

Fantastic impact on my entry into the role. Thank you.

Confidence in what I am doing, I know even more than before that we are moving in the right direction as a Company

I will share with…rest of my team / my Manager/ Medical Director

Greater awareness of MSL responsibilities and roles

I will ask for more specific MSL training and a guidance document / I will raise with the Medical Director the need for ongoing training and development, Journal Clubs, upskilling/ today has helped me to consider my personal development and training needs

To re-analyse the MSL aspect of my role and to develop a system to demonstrate value within my organisation / to measure outcomes and consider value / to consider improving the recording of our contacts

I will challenge my Company to deliver more for MSLs / I learned a lot from today to take back to my organisation for development of the MSL role

We also asked delegates to state the best aspect of the 2015 MSLA Annual Conference and a selection of responses are provided below:

The opportunity to discuss / share issues with peers in a safe environment

All of it!

The title of the 2016 MSLA Annual Conference is ‘Meet, Share, Learn (MSL)’ and we have a very exciting agenda planned as outlined below:

Mr Michael Blastland is a writer, broadcaster and world expert in risk, author of ‘The Norm Chronicles - a guide to personal risk and the statistics that represent it’, and presenter of Radio 4’s ‘The Human Zoo’. He will give a very thought provoking and insightful perspective into the communication of data, something that as MSLs we do every single day.

Prof Allan Hackshaw is Professor of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at the CRUK Cancer Trials Centre, UCL. He will lead a session specifically designed to demystify statistics with practical considerations and principles for MSLs when discussing and presenting clinical data.

Dr Rina Newton is Managing Director of CompliMed Ltd, the UK’s leading Healthcare Compliance Consultancy specialising in the ABPI Code of Practice. Rina will be running an interactive and lively two hour workshop on three core MSL-related Code topics. Following registration you will be sent a Survey Monkey which will ask you to rank MSL related Code topics in order of preference. Rina will focus the workshop on the three most popular topics from the Survey Monkey. 30 minutes will be reserved at the end of the workshop to give the opportunity for discussion of any other burning MSL related Code topics/ scenarios.

Prof Raymond Fitzpatrick is Clinical Director of Pharmacy at Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals and Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the University. He has a special interest in medicines optimisation and pharmacy practice research and over 100 publications, including full papers, conference presentations and book chapters, to his name. He has been advisor to NHS and government bodies on medicines management and prescribing issues and as such is exceptionally well placed to give an insightful update on the evolving NHS landscape and what it means to the pharmaceutical industry and us as MSLs.

As with all MSLA meetings we encourage you to register for the 2016 MSLA Annual Conference ASAP to avoid disappointment. Places will be limited.
