2016 MSLA ‘How To’: The Aspiring MSL

Delivered by Helen Kane

This one day interactive programme is aimed at anyone who has an interest in the role of the MSL and will be of particular interest to individuals who have a scientific background in academia or the healthcare sector.

The workshop will be led by Helen Kane who is truly passionate about the role of the MSL and has 20 years plus experience of working within the pharma industry. She is a pharmacist by background and has worked as a MSL, MSL Lead and MSL National Manager. As one of the founding members of the MSLA and previous Chairman (2012-15) Helen is recognised for her support and belief in the MSL function.  Other speakers will include MSLs who have made the transition from academia to industry, pharma industry colleagues and MSL hiring managers from within the industry. The event will be highly interactive and provide an opportunity for networking with like-minded colleagues.

Feedback from previous workshops:

'This was a fantastic introduction into what the role really involves and what to expect from an interview situation. I also came away with a lot more knowledge than I expected'

'I learned a lot about the function of the MSL and what 'cross-functionality' really means. Useful links for resources were provided'

'It was an amazing introduction to the MSL role. Informative and a real confidence booster'

‘I had zero exposure to the pharmaceutical industry, but the MSL job description appealed to me immensely. After receiving no replies to numerous MSL job applications. I had become disillusioned and almost gave up on this career path. However, I found myself a spot on the MSL workshop. This was hugely insightful and allowed me to locate new sources of information, tinker with my CV and know what to say to get noticed. It worked and I got the job I wanted so badly and I could not have achieved it without Helen and her workshop'.
