2017 'How to...' Competent Critical Appraisal

2017 'How to...' Competent Critical Appraisal

Designed & Presented by Royal Liverpool Hospital Senior Professorial Staff

Friday 20 October, 2017

Skills around competent critical appraisal are core to the role of the MSL. Over the past few years we have run a number of successful courses on this subject, all of which have received great feedback from those attending. These excellent value for money workshops are now part of the package associated with being a member of the MSLA.

Critical Appraisal Skills Course (CAS) will help you understand the principles of critically appraising published papers and help you differentiate between robust data and studies with methods and statistics that may raise questions.  This course was originally designed to help all healthcare professionals including core medical trainees, SpRs, Staff grade physicians, clinical assistants, etc. indeed everyone involved and interested in published literature to appraise published papers using appropriate tools, tips and structured methods. Effectively every HCP you might call on as part of your MSL role.

This course will allow you to look at publications the same way that the HCPs you see every day look at clinical papers!

You will receive some reading material which you will need to complete before the course and which will be used throughout the day.
