Can you be even more successful? Yes if…

Wednesday 19th July 2023 - GMT

Here’s a quick exercise for you…

Answer these questions as quickly as you can. The only rule is that your first two words must be “no because”.

Can you improve your work-life balance?

            No because…

Can you free-up at least three hours a week, by changing your diary?

            No because…

Can you apply for a better position/job?

            No because…

Can you ask for more pay?

            No because…

Can you praise people more than you do?

            No because…

When you start your answers with “no because”, it’s easy to find reasons why you can’t achieve something.

Now, let’s go again. But this time, start your answers with the phrase “yes if”.

Can you improve your work-life balance?

             YES IF…

Can you free-up at least three hours a week, by changing your diary?

             YES IF…

Can you apply for a better position/job?

             YES IF…

Can you ask for more pay?

             YES IF…

Can you praise people more than you do?

             YES IF…

This is so much better!

When you start with “yes if”, it’s much more empowering. You’re now looking for enablers; not blockers. You’re more optimistic about your chances of success.

So, can you be even more successful?  Can you enjoy your life even more than you do?  Can you have even more fun at home, and at work?

Action Point

… answer these questions – and the other questions that matter to you – starting with the words “YES IF”! You’ll be amazed at what you suddenly realise you can achieve!
