Alex McKeown is a leading authority on data ethics and information governance, specialising in the ethical challenges posed by AI and big data. As Head of Data Ethics at Information Governance Services, Alex advises organisations on embedding ethical practices into their data strategies to build trust, drive accountability, and ensure compliance.

With a PhD in Bioethics from the University of Bristol and postdoctoral roles at institutions including the University of Oxford, Alex has a distinguished academic background. He spent six years with the Neuroscience, Ethics & Society (NEUROSEC) group at Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry, exploring the intersection of ethics, neuroscience, and AI.

Drawing on years of experience in patient advocacy, policy research, and academia, Alex provides expert insights on how organisations can navigate the ethical complexities of AI and data governance while aligning with societal values.
